UPDATE 8:50 a.m. LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Police Department is reporting that the manhunt for 30-year-old Alex Joel Cruz Hernandez has come to an end.

Police say Hernandez was located on the 3300-block of Waterlick Road in Campbell County just before 6:30 am. He was taken into custody immediately without further incident.

The investigation is still ongoing. WFXR News will continue to bring you further details as they are released.

UPDATE 12:22 a.m. LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Lynchburg Police Department is asking people in the area of Old Graves Mill Road, Willow Bend, and Smoketree Lane to shelter in place. An armed suspect fled from officers Sunday night and was last seen leaving the 300-block of Old Graves Mill Road toward Smoketree Lane.

He’s described as a 30-year-old Hispanic man with shoulder-length black hair, wearing a white and blue plaid shirt and no shoes. Police say he has a handgun.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Lynchburg Police are searching for an armed suspect who fled on foot toward Smoketree Lane.

They posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, that they’re searching for a 30-year-old Hispanic man with shoulder-length black hair, wearing a white and blue plaid shirt and no shoes. Police say he has a handgun.

Residents in the area are asked to shelter in place.
